About the Event
From the first rhymes we learn as children to the poems we now hear or share as part of mindfulness sessions there is something about poetry which can connect us to each other and the present moment. Often there can be a sense of finally hearing words for something that seemed ineffable. With poetry we can enter into that place where things cannot be so easily explained; together.
In this workshop we will explore the mystery of poetry and presence.
-We will meet the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, Mary Oliver, Rumi, Nikita Gill and others
-We will explore the practice of Insight Gathering which is a practice of listening to how the body, heart and mind responds to the words and images shared in poetry
-We will practice Spacious Awareness  and then work with what arises to craft some words in which to express this
-We will also have space at the close of the session for those who wish to to share some of the poems which have moved, enlightened, or comforted you and for us to share what resonates
Everything in this session is invitational-please feel comfortable to engage through listening as much as sharing. If you’d like to share a favourite poem please bring it with you if you’re happy to read it out or send directly to me and I can read it out.
When we return home to ourselves in practice we may find that everything is there to explore, and what a wonder that can be.
